      <description>I&#8217;ve had my work appear everywhere from Super Bowl TV spots to the marquee of Grauman&#8217;s Chinese Theatre. But it&#8217;s this tiny little tattoo that I&#8217;m especially proud of, part of the marketing campaign that Corianton Hale and I created for the 15th Seattle Lesbian &amp;amp; Gay Film Festival. This was our fourth year working with Three Dollar Bill Cinema to create the imagery and messaging for the entire festival. My tagline &#8220;Admit Your Love&#8221; appeared everywhere from T&#45;shirts to trailers, and on the first tattoo (that I know of!) to sport a line of mine.



In addition to the marketing efforts, I also work with Three Dollar Bill Cinema as Lead Programmer, selecting and slotting films for the festival (and for programs throughout the year) including 12 unique, can&#8217;t&#45;buy&#45;em&#45;in&#45;stores short film programs that I curated with help from our Screening Committees. It&#8217;s a lot of work, but hugely satisfying and generally a lot of fun, too. Check out this year&#8217;s shorts programs here.</description>

      <description>If you&#8217;re one of 350,000 lucky people in the Greater Los Angeles area, you&#8217;ve received this direct mail brochure with juicy details about The Hollywood Bowl&#8217;s exciting 2010 Season. 

How does one possibly sum up an entire summer&#8217;s worth of performances and events, spanning just about every musical genre known to man, all in the unparalleled setting of The Bowl? In working on this season&#8217;s marketing materials, I wrote &#8220;That Summer Sensation&#8230;&#8221; (along with plenty of other options, of course) and it stuck. It&#8217;s a line that you&#8217;ll be seeing and hearing all over town in the coming months, and across all mediums. 


I&#8217;ve been working on projects for the LA Philharmonic and The Hollywood Bowl for several years now, and it&#8217;s always a pleasure to work with such a smart, responsive and positive team. I wish I could take credit for them bringing Grace Jones to the Bowl last summer, but that epic night wasn&#8217;t my idea &#8211; just a dream come true!</description>

      <description>A little bit of Bacon is helping to save the music industry? Aw, shucks. It&#8217;s the least I could do, in addition to all the money I spend on concerts and recorded music (yep, I still pay for plenty of it). And it was a great pleasure working with Columbia Records on copy for their campaign promoting &#8220;Glee&#8221; downloads and soundtracks, currently burning up the charts on iTunes.

&#8220;Glee&#8221; brings joy to beleaguered music industry

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) &#8211; Its characters may feel like a bunch of unloved high&#45;school misfits, but the quirky musical TV comedy &#8220;Glee&#8221; is putting smiles on the faces of music industry executives searching for new revenue in an era of plunging album sales.

Two months into the 2009&#45;10 TV season, &#8220;Glee&#8221; is drawing a weekly audience of 8.6 million viewers to the Fox television network. Fans have bought more than two million tunes sung by the show&#8217;s cast on iTunes, and soundtracks are being compiled and sold in traditional stores.

For a film, there&#8217;s usually a working title (&#8220;UNTITLED ADAM SANDLER PROJECT&#8221;), or a title didn&#8217;t test well with focus groups, was already taken, or just didn&#8217;t fly with someone with the power to shoot things down.

      <description>This brand new blog o&#8217; mine has been way too quiet. But only because I&#8217;ve been so busy! 

The majority of my time and attention has been devoted to the 2009 Seattle Lesbian &amp;amp; Gay Film Festival, which finally kicks off tomorrow night. Woo hoo! In addition to working on the overall marketing campaign (except for the trailer &#8211; I had little to do with that), I curated each and every one of the short film programs, 13 in all. (Check &#8216;em out here.) I was also involved with selecting the feature films, writing and editing the film descriptions, and scheduling ten days and nights of movies, parties, panels and receptions. Whew! 

In between, I&#8217;ve squeezed in new projects for the L.A. Phil and Hollywood Bowl, plus a few major motion pictures and a little TV show called GLEE that everyone&#8217;s going crazy for, all soon to be added to the portfolio section of my site that has also been neglected, but for all the right reasons.

I&#8217;m really excited for the festival and can&#8217;t wait to see how it all plays out. Ten days from now it&#8217;ll be back to normal. Whatever that is.</description>

      <title>We interrupt this movie to bring you a movie</title>

      <description>Even when I&#8217;m not helping to create a title sequence, trailer, TV spot or tagline for a movie, I&#8217;m probably watching one anyway. But it&#8217;s not all popcorn and matinee prices, because I&#8217;m almost always looking at a movie for purposes of business and (hopefully) pleasure.

Tomorrow I&#8217;m heading down to Frameline in San Francisco for five days and nights of movies, movies, and more movies. Plus a party or two. I&#8217;ll be there in my official capacity as Lead Programmer for Three Dollar Bill Cinema, looking at shorts programs and films to evaluate for inclusion in the Seattle Lesbian &amp;amp; Gay Film Festival, Oct. 16&#45;25. 

I&#8217;ve been working with Three Dollar Bill Cinema for a few years now. It&#8217;s a lot of work but a ton of fun. What started 14 years ago with the Seattle Lesbian &amp;amp; Gay Film Festival has grown into a year&#45;round non&#45;profit organization with a myriad of events, programs, and support for filmmakers. In addition to programming, I&#8217;m also responsible for creating marketing &amp;amp; publicity materials with my partner&#45;in&#45;everything, Corianton Hale.&amp;nbsp; Never a dull moment, never a day off. We earned a Key Art Award nomination for last year&#8217;s poster for the SLGFF, which won an award &amp;amp; appearance in PRINT Magazine, so all the overtime is at least being recognized.

You might think I&#8217;d want to fill my &#8216;off time&#8217; with something completely outside of the entertainment industry. You might especially think this after working so many late nights, weekends and &#8220;vacations&#8221; like I do. But movies are what I love and what I know. Film &amp;amp; marketing have been part of my career since the beginning, and I can&#8217;t imagine ever not having some involvement with the two, preferably at the same time.

But I do have a back&#45;up plan. Should they ever stop making movies, I figure I&#8217;ll just go to my second&#45;choice career: taking a trained squirrel around to trade shows.

      <description>Friendster. MySpace. LinkedIn. Facebook. Like countless other people before and after me, I&#8217;ve added my name and mug shot to all of those time wasting &#8216;social networking&#8217; sites. But at long last, I finally have a professional web site (and a slick one at that!) devoted strictly to me. It&#8217;s part portfolio archive, part promotional tool, and totally necessary after all these years as a freelance creative. 

I&#8217;ve also had a couple of blogs over the years, but this site will be the new home for all my writings, ramblings, and reviews/rants/raves that I wish to share with the world.

Huge, enormous, impossible&#45;to&#45;overstate thanks to Mr. Corianton Hale, my partner in life, business, clam digging, etc., for all of his hard work and design brilliance on this project. And giant props to the lovely and talented Michiko Swiggs for her kick&#45;ass programming skills and quick&#45;thinking solutions. Without their help, you&#8217;d be looking at a very blank screen.

The version going live today covers my most recent clients and work. I intend to go back through my files and include every project I&#8217;ve ever worked on. A daunting task, but it&#8217;ll be fun to see when it&#8217;s done. For now, there should be enough information here to give anyone a better idea of who I am, what I do, and who I do it for.
